ARDS RACE LICENCE

Novice Driver Training Course (ARDS) Race Licence available at Mallory Park.
- Classroom briefing and watch the Motorsport UK Go Racing USB.
- Written multiple choice test; 27 questions based on the information given by our instructors in the earlier briefing and on the USB.
- Driving assessment; our instructors will demonstrate the lines, braking points, apexes, and techniques. You will be required to complete this before you drive on the circuit. This will be demonstrated in car by your instructor.
ADVANCED ARDS

ARDS Advanced Course – Current Motorsport UK race licence holders can use to gain a signature on their licence upgrade card.
- The format looks at specific advance driving techniques and includes one-to-one tuition from our highly experienced ARDS Instructors, the day will advance your driving skills further and prepare you for your next race.
JUnior Ards
£620
- Complete the written,multiple-choice test. Twenty-seven questions based on the information given by our instructors in the earlier briefing and on the QR Code.
- The content of the course will comprise: Circuit safety, Gear changing, Driving Position, Braking, Racing Lines, Car Dynamics and Physics, Marshal’s flags and Signals, Safety Car, and actions to be taken in the event of an accident, recovery, and being towed. We also discuss the chronology of a race meeting.
- Juniors will drive a minimum of 4 sessions lasting 20 - 25 minutes each, with a debrief in between each session. Gear changing, down-changing techniques, vision (the ability to look sufficiently ahead to identify and react to Marshal’s signals), braking, weight transfer, and racing lines are all covered.
Initially, each candidate must obtain the Motorsport UK Go Racing Starter Pack, available from Motorsport UK approx. £115.00. https://www.motorsportuk.org/get-started/starter-packs/ or Tel 01753 765000. First-year licence fee included
Courses are carried out in TMS-provided cars.
Written Ards Test

This course is intended for anyone who has held either a national or international race licence, and let it lapse for more than three years. You will need to take the written section only, to update your knowledge on rule changes, flags, and safety etc.

1-2-1 RACE TUITION

We can offer race and track day tuition throughout the UK, it really does not matter what your level of experience is, we will get the best out of you, and help you to get the best out of your vehicle.
Prices are from £400 per day (dependent on location plus track time fee).
Our professional instructors can identify and rectify the smallest of errors. The cumulative effect this has on the car and on the driver can be dramatic.
For driver this can mean spectacular improvements in performance, higher finishing positions, race wins, and even lap records.
These improvements will stay with you and provide a solid base from which to build – as long as you remember to use the correct techniques including:
- seating position,
- racing lines for wet and dry surfaces,
- weight transfer and understanding the car’s behaviour when using throttle and brake,
- braking and trail braking - how to use the correct techniques to ensure the car remains settled into and exiting corners,
- understeer and oversteer - what they are and how to correct them,
- inside track knowledge and secrets to help you become a better all round racing driver.

Instructor Training
£650
Race/Track Day Tuition at every MSUK circuit in the country.
- Applicants will be asked to send in a copy of their Race/Instructing CV to be studied by the Chief Instructor. Applicants with a minimal amount of racing experience may be requested to gain more experience before being offered an Instructor Training Course.
- Only applicants that hold or have held an International Race licence will be considered for the Instructor Training Course. Typically, this course will consist of one day, split between the classroom and on circuit training and assessment.
You can be assured you’re learning from only the very best A & S grade ARDS instructors. The new skills that you will learn from them that can be applied to enhance your race circuit driving worldwide.
The skills & techniques learned are transportable from track to track & car to car. We are also the only school to offer front and rear wheel drive vehicles, assisting with safer faster driving in ourown cars, and the training covers all aspects of safe performance driving techniques in a relaxed but fun environment to help build your confidence and get the very best out of your driving potential.
If you have any areas to work on then we can apply those on the day, The day is bespoke to the individual.
You’ll also get to know and understand how physical forces act upon your vehicle, correct techniques such as seating position, wet and dry lines, weight transfer, understeer and oversteer, making the most of your transmission, and using throttle and braking, and how driver actions affect behaviour behind the wheel to ensure you’re handling and driving your vehicle at its best potential. Any errors that the instructors spot can be identified and actioned quickly, to ensure you feel the difference and improvement in reaction and handling and thus your safety almost immediately. We’re confident that these new techniques that you acquire with this driving course will stay with you and be part of your driving skills repertoire whatever the conditions are for many years to come.

1 Day Advanced Track Driving Course - Clio inc ARDS Test

- Introduction in to driving techniques, including the six phases of corner, vision, braking, weight transfer, turning in, apexes and exit points of corners
- Explanation of grip and how to lose and gain it

The Motorsports School is now a registered AHASS (Association of Hill Climb and Sprint School) member.
We are offering full day courses at Mallory Park, this will be done in your own car. If you don’t have a car, we can hire you one at extra cost.
Preparation: All cars must be of a road legal condition, please ensure that all loose items are removed from the inside of the vehicle. Ensure you have enough fuel for the day and each run in the vehicle. Please make sure Towing eyes are fitted. Noise limit 88db Road noise.
Clothing: All limbs to be covered, make sure clothing is comfortable, shoes are comfortable and are narrow as not to press both pedals together. Race boots and race suits are ideal but not mandatory.
Crash helmets: Helmets are mandatory, close cockpit vehicles, open face helmets as a minimum. Open cockpit vehicles full face preferred, however open faced with suitable eye protection (goggles) are allowed. We can hire you a helmet should you require one.
The venue: on arrival go through gate “B”, Follow the service road down past the MacMaster footbridge. Follow green & white Armco and signage to Pit / Paddock area, cross the track, travel behind garages to the paddock. Signing on is in the big grey Mallory Park Building 1st floor. Tow cars and trailers to remain in the paddock with our instructors.
The day will start with a breakfast roll, tea or coffee breakfast, followed by a briefing. We will go through the braking turn in entry parts of each corner, apex’s and exits of each corner.
You will then drive with the instructor in the car, pointing out the cones and reference parts of each corner.
This will be followed by a lunch, tea or coffee.
In the afternoon we take away cones and the instructor, you will drive alone but our instructors will assess your lines from outside the car.
After these runs, we will have afternoon tea and cakes followed by a debrief
The premium driver and 2nd driver Both will be briefed and given separate numbers.
The cost of this full day’s training course is £300-00 inc.
Guests : Guests are welcome, Driving guests sharing a car will be charged at £50.00,however none driving guests there will be a charge of £30.00 per head to cover food & refreshments.
